Industrial Origin
The town was established to accommodate the expansion of ISCOR (South African Iron and Steel Industrial Corporation) after the Pretoria plant reached its capacity.
Steel Ignition
The first steelworks began operating, marking the beginning of Vanderbijlpark's journey as the industrial heart of the Vaal Triangle.
Official Proclamation
Vanderbijlpark was officially proclaimed as a town, designed specifically as a "model town" for steelworkers and their families.
Municipal Status
The town attained municipal status following the opening of ISCOR's second steelworks by Governor-General Dr. EG Jansen.
Academic Expansion
The North-West University (NWU) Vaal Triangle Campus was established, bringing higher education to the local industrial community.
